My name is Scott Rains. As the lead pastor at Hope Ankeny I have a front row seat to seeing God change lives. As culture shifts and communities grow and change, God’s faithful love and amazing grace remain powerfully transformational.
C.S. Lewis once said, “Joy is the serious business of Heaven.” This makes sense to me! We call our worship services “Celebration Services” for a reason. We believe the joy of the Lord to be our strength. There’s plenty in this world that robs us of joy, and Jesus wants to replenish our joy (John 15:11). At Hope, we take faith seriously, and we try not to take ourselves too seriously.
Our Story
Hope Ankeny began worshiping in 2006. For the first nine years we were nomads, worshiping in five different locations across Ankeny. These were formative years for our campus. At Hope we often say, “We’re better together!” When you don’t have a permanent church home, there’s a vital role for everyone to place in order for the church to exist. That “all in” mindset continues to drive Hope Ankeny as we carry out the mission and vision of Hope from our permanent home at 520 NW 36th Street.
If you’re looking for a perfect church, we’re not it! We get some things right and stub our toes a lot. Through it all, we rely on the God who began a good work in us to be faithful and to keep on working in us. I hope to see you around Hope soon!
